Our Footprints in Nature, culture and history

South Karelia is full of historical whispers, and our imprint can also be seen in nature. Join the forest elves on a journey to the roots of Finnish culture and history, accompanied by intriguing stories.

Experience the peace markers of the Treaty of Pähkinäsaari on the summit of Haukkavuori, the bunkers built during the last wars as part of the Salpa Line, 18th-century fortress systems and canals, the Border Museum, or former military airfields. All of these fascinating sites narrate Finland's history as a neighbor to a major power. Additionally, the old villages and houses hold stories that reveal their own past—serving as a stage for ghost stories that have been passed down through tradition.

The border and border control, culture, and history are reflected not only in nature but also in the local food culture. The "Our Footprints in Nature" excursion undoubtedly includes Karelian outdoor snacks, which means you’ll be treated to traditional Karelian pies and other baked goods straight from the oven.

Implementation Time and Duration

The "Our Footprint in Nature" excursion can be conducted with various themes depending on the season. The duration is 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the chosen destination. Please check availability in the event calendar.

Excursion Destinations

The excursion destinations may vary, and the location can also be selected based on requests. The excursion is suitable for all ages, and it can be made accessible if necessary. The starting point depends on the location, and participants will be informed separately. Please note that participants must have their own weather-appropriate gear and footwear.

Participant Count and Pricing

The maximum number of participants for the "Our Footprint in Nature" excursion is 20 people. The excursion can also be organized for larger groups as an event. Please request a separate offer for larger groups here. The minimum charge for the excursion is 540 €.
