Green start and responsibility

Green Start is a development tool for responsible tourism aimed at companies in the tourism sector. We have created a practical action plan to promote environmental issues and responsibility in collaboration with our operational environment and customers.

In our activities, responsibility is fundamentally rooted in our values, which include respecting traditions, history, local culture, and nature, as well as fostering good and fair cooperation with our partners. Responsibility in our operations is reflected in, among other things:

• We use locally produced raw materials and collaborate with communities and businesses in the surrounding area, favoring services and products that are produced with local workforce.
• We take care of cultural heritage and respect local and Finnish cultural history and folklore, highlighting these aspects during our excursions and events.
• We educate our guests about rights and responsibilities and ensure that litter is cleaned up and sorted correctly during our trips.
• We move through nature with respect, conserving it and considering, for example, the nesting peace of animals; we do not use motorized equipment during forest excursions, primarily relying on human-powered movement, such as on foot or using rowing boats, canoes, or kick sleds.
• We highlight biodiversity during our nature excursions and nature events and explain the specific characteristics of the local environment.
• We strive to provide our customers with comprehensive information about our area and the local nature, culture, and hiking opportunities during customer service interactions.
• When procuring products, we pay attention to their durability, usability, and ecological aspects (e.g., hiking gear).
• We sort and recycle our waste.
• Naturally, we cherish the local and Karelian food culture, showcasing it in our program services while minimizing food waste.
• We ensure the safety of our employees and customers and regularly update safety documents related to our program services.
• We are fair partners, delivering on our promises and adhering to the agreed timeline.
